About Utica College

Utica College, or UC, for short, is a private university located in Utica, which is a city in the US state of New York, serving as the county seat of Oneida County, with a population of 60 651 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census.

UC was established in 1946 but traces its roots back to the 1930s, when Syracuse University began offering extension courses in the Utica area. It offers its students around 40 majors, 24 minors, several Master's degree programs, and a number of pre-professional and special programs, providing `an academic experience that is both engaging and enriching, with a remarkable variety of opportunities for personal, professional, and intellectual growth.`

Athletics

UC's athletic teams are known as the Pioneers and they compete in 21 Division III intercollegiate sports affiliated with the NCAA, Empire 8 Conference and the ECAC. Their distinctive colors are Navy and Orange, and their mascot is TRAX (the moose).
